I’ve written here about Greg Dyke, who takes up his post this week as new FA Chairman.

I’ve just listened to his Desert Island Disc appearance in 2007, and it’s pretty clear to me that he’ll not be someone sitting idly by, managing a slow decline of the FA’s influence.

He talks of having one last challenge left in him, or how he doesn’t imagine failure. It fleshes out his character well, and I’m relatively optimistic he’ll be closer in reforming zeal to David Triesman more than David Bernstein.
